Job Title: Maintenance Worker/School Bus Driver

Paloma Elementary School District

Position Type: Full-Time (12 months)

Reports To: Superintendent

Job Summary:

Paloma Elementary School District is seeking a dedicated and reliable individual to fill the dual role of Maintenance Worker and School Bus Driver. This position is vital in ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and operational efficiency of our school facilities and transportation services. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to the well-being and safety of our students.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance Worker Duties:

- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry work.

- Conduct regular inspections of school facilities to identify and resolve issues.

- Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of school buildings and grounds, including trash removal, sweeping, mopping, and snow removal.

- Assist in setting up and taking down equipment for school events and activities.

- Monitor and maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.

- Respond to emergency maintenance requests promptly.

- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and district policies.

School Bus Driver Duties:

- Safely operate a school bus on a scheduled route, transporting students to and from school and school-related activities.

- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the bus is in safe operating condition.

- Maintain order and discipline on the bus, ensuring the safety of all passengers.

- Follow all traffic laws and district policies while operating the bus.

- Report any mechanical issues or incidents to the Transportation Coordinator.

- Keep accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance.

- Attend safety meetings and training sessions as required.


- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a School Bus (S) endorsement.

- Clean driving record with no serious violations.

- Previous experience in maintenance work and operating a school bus is preferred.

- Basic knowledge of maintenance tools and techniques.
